Who is Midori and What’s she about?

So nice to delete my professional bio from this page. Instead, here’s what you get.

First of all, Midori really does mean green in Japanese. I swear! You know you can’t make that kind of stuff up! Someone once said it was divine intervention that I would have green eyes, a name that means green and a commitment to sustainability. I like that idea.

Second, I am a mom. I don’t talk about my kids often because they are sacred to me and I feel like if I blab about them like other parents then I’m diluting their energy somehow. Kind of like the tribes who believe that if you take a picture it’s stealing your soul and trapping it in the camera. Hard to explain, but they were one of the biggest surprises to a girl who was never going to get married, never going to have kids.

Third, I like to have fun. I mean, a LOT of fun. Snowboarding, surfing (body and board), golfing, racing, motorcycles, horseback riding, wakeboarding, hiking, traveling, dining, soccer, computer games, reading, talking, listening, speaking, daydreaming, drinking beer (is that appropriate to say?). I’m always, always doing something. And, I am happy. Not like idiotic grin happy, but deeply, fundamentally happy. Purely by choice, not by circumstance.

Third, and finally, that last paragraph is so telling of my journey. Since writing this bio five years ago, I had to delete the part about being a wife. And the last paragraph is painful for me to look at because I was so tragically unhappy in that time. I thought that having fun meant being happy. That always having something to do or keep my busy meant having happiness.

Oh that poor girl. Now I have a long standing date with movement and seeking of a different type. It requires stillness, but not aloneness like I thought before. So many lessons learned, so many to come.

All to share. With you.

Love,

Midori

This is how all bios, professional or not, should read. Beautifully said.

Thanks David! It took me like 30 seconds to write this.

Okay, exaggeration, but it felt like 30 seconds because it was just so easy to do…I let go of trying to impress anyone, worrying about being appealing to everyone or making sure it sounded “professional enough” and let my inner voice do its thing.

As it’s untethered to my day job, this blog is releasing all types of ideas and creativity. Feels amazing!

    Thanks for popping in 🙂

Fantastic bio, Midori! You have inspired me to get my butt in gear and get my blog going (finally). Love your green eyes 😉
